Read More on Online MarketingI've been using Bookmarking Demon for quite a while now and I think I'd like to clear up some misconceptions. Edwin Soft created this software to help us bookmark more efficiently. Unfortunately some believe this is a black hat tool and is used for spamming. This is not true. Let me first explain what Bookmarking Demon does.

Bookmarking Demon...What does it do?

Bookmarking Demon creates accounts automatically at 20 or so major bookmaking sites. Simpy, Delicious and other big time social bookmarking sites. It's a huge time saver. It seems that everyone online has now figured out how important social bookmarking is. Links from major social bookmarking sites get crawled almost instantly. This is a great way to get some links to your site or sites.

Why Would You Use Bookmarking Demon?

If you have just one site then you don't need to use a tool like this although it would still be very helpful. However, if you have a number of sites and blogs then it's near impossible to promote them all successfully. It takes way too much time. We need help getting links sometimes. The more you can automate certain chores concerning your online business then the more you can focus on other important things.

What's the Problem Then With Bookmarking Demon?

Well some folks abuse it. Bookmarking Demon is a powerful tool! You can't mess around with it and just go hog wild getting links. That's kind of like spam right? Here's what people do: They will bookmark 48 url's from their site and tag each url 20 times. This would create 21 links for each submission. One link from the actual submission and 20 links from the 20 pages created by having 20 tags. So, if you successfully submit say only one url, with 20 tags to 20 major bookmarking sites that's 420 links. If you are a spammer and you submit 100 url's then you're talking THOUSANDS of links all at once. Bad idea.

How to Use Bookmarking Demon Ethically

Don't spam. Period. You know if you are spamming. You could use this tool to do real and valuable bookmarking. It just saves time and it should be used that way. If you spam then hopefully next time you need to look something up online then I hope you find one of your spam bookmarks instead of the information you really need! Don't spam. Use the tool responsibly and you'll have no trouble. Use it to get to your bookmarking sites quickly and submit your url's quickly. Don't leave Bookmarking Demon on for two days straight bookmarking 234 url's!

What Else Does Bookmarking Demon Do?

You can also do a Scuttle run as it's called. A scuttle site is created by a scuttle script. It's basically an unknown social bookmarking site. A lot of these scuttle sites have no admin panel so black hatters use these sites as a link farm. They go crazy getting links from scuttle sites. Tons of tags and tons of links. But, again I say don't let the spammers turn you off from this incredible tool. Just because black hatters get thousands of links in days doesn't mean you need to. Be ethical and use this tool with some caution.

Is there Really Anything Wrong With Bookmarking Your Own Sites?

I don't think so. Do you believe you have a quality site with valuable information? Then why not bookmark it for every ones benefit? I don't see how it can be OK to bookmark other peoples sites but somehow it is unethical to bookmark your own. Or it's OK to manually search for social bookmarking sites and submit your url's but it's somehow not OK to eliminate hours and hours of work by using software. Use responsibly and you'll get tons of links.
