Before you begin reciprical linking, here are some things that you should know. One: When you start doing reciprocal linking with other business owners, you want to make sure that you are exchanging links with a site that is relevant to yours. You don't want to exchange links with a site that has nothing to do with your business because when you do this, it can actually do damage with the search engines and your listing. Two: You want to look at the page rank of sites that you are considering linking with. You can exchange links with any website no matter what their page rank is but when you exchange links with sites that have a page rank of 4 or higher, you will get much better listing results with the search engines. Three: Reciprocal linking takes time to find the sites to link with but it also takes time because you will need to go back at a future date to make sure that the site you exchanged links with is honoring their part of the agreement. In other words, is your site listed where they said it would be? There are services online that can help you keep tabs on the links you exchange. These sites can do the work of watching the links for you. These are all very important things to know about reciprocal linking before you start using it. Linking is definitely something that you want to do for your business but if you don't know how to do it right, then you won't be able to use it effectively. So, always take time to learn about it before you use it. ------------------------------ John Baril lives in Delta, British Columbia, Canada with his wife and 2 young boys.
