It would be glorious, if one fine morning, with the sweet songs of the morning birds ringing in your ears, you sign up as an affiliate marketer, and in the evening before the sun sets, you find $100 in your bank account. Although such a feat is possible, in most cases it’s not that easy. Like most other businesses, affiliate marketing takes time to build up. It’s unlikely then that you’ll be drawing $100 within a day or two of your venture into affiliate marketing. In fact, lady luck would indeed be smiling her sweetest smile on you if you’re able to make $100 within a week. Most people would give up,usually after about 2 weeks if nothing shows up in their bank accounts. This is the biggest problem that people have when venturing into affiliate marketing, the lack of staying power,ie simply staying with it when,at the beginning, nothing much is showing. Tip #2: Don't Pay Hundreds of Dollars for a Program. There are literally thousands of programs in the internet that claim to teach novice affiliate marketers how to make tons of dollars through affiliate marketing within a short span of time. Though there are indeed some that do what they claim, most are good money thrown away. It is a good idea then to stay away from costly affiliate marketing programs, as very often you’ll find yourself shortchanged. Tip #3: Find a guide or mentor. The lure of making large amounts of money easily through affiliate marketing is strong enough to make people venture into it, but affiliate marketing has many difficulties, which makes people give it up,usually, after trying it out for a couple of weeks. A crucial step that most people overlook is to engage a guide or mentor. A mentor or guide is someone who has walked successfully, the path you’re just tentatively putting your toe on, and because of this, can provide invaluable guidance as to what to do. Many successful affiliate marketers are willing to give advice to beginners, either for free or for a price. It is therefore essential that you find a mentor. Tip #4: Copywriting Because you’ll be marketing products to others, you’ll need to have some good copywriting. You’ll need to be able to write articles and other content to promote the products you’re marketing. Bum-marketing, an often used and very successful form of affiliate marketing, relies on copywriting by the affiliate marketer. If you're certain that you can't write articles on the products by yourself, you might consider hiring a good copywriter. Good copywriting will allow you to become successful at novice affiliate marketing. Tip #5: Keep up with New Trends One thing that often makes affiliate marketing difficult for beginners is the fact that it is constantly changing. A workable method today may be obsolete tomorrow. You have to be willing to “change with the times,” or else your affiliate marketing career is destined to fail. The novice need to be able to adapt quickly ,or like the dinosaur, the prospect of extinction will loom large. An ability to grasp and assimilate change swiftly is a desirable trait. If you’re able to stay the course, persevere through whatever comes along, there is a high probability that your dreams of wealth will come true. John is an avid affiliate marketer.
