Most affiliate marketing opportunities provide a free website, to advertise the products or services offered. You'll need to pay monthly to have your site hosted, with a once off sum to register a domain.

There are plenty of shady offers available, and it is essential to do some research up front to verify the authenticity of the supplier and the products, before agreeing to represent them. The first thing is to have a close look at the products or services you will be promoting - are they real and credible? It is essential that you are happy with their veracity, and that you are prepared to promote them with confidence. Do you appreciate their value in a personal sense, and are you prepared to support and endorse then personally?

You are advised to carefully avoid pyramid schemes, which persuade you to pay to join a programme, without offering any products or services in exchange. The individuals at the top of the pyramid merely rake in the cash, until the pyramid collapses, because there is nothing to sustain the growth. These schemes are illegal in most countries, and must be avoided at all costs - the originators of the scheme disappear, only to resurface somewhere else, until the law eventually catches up with them.
