You can sell products, promote events and activities,sell vehicles, sell or rent real estate, post job notices and sell just about anything else you can think of. The first thing you have to do is get a Google account.This is free and can be created in a few minutes. All you need is a working email address. Then go to base.google.com and log in using your Google account log in details. You then need to choose your country and choose an item type. If your particular item type is not mentionned you can create your own. Then you choose the price. Now, I noticed that if you do not choose a price your product is then rejected. They do not tell you why! I spent a bit of time looking through forums and finally found the answer. Put a price on your products! After you add your product it usually just takes a few minutes to process. Your product is then listed on Google for free! You can track impressions and clickthroughs just like with Google Adwords yet it costs nothing. Depending on your product it may also appear on Google's product search engine, Google Product. I have received some traffic just by testing a few products. The traffic has not been substantial but this depends greatly on what you are selling and geographical targetting. One interesting feature with Google Base is that you can upload a spreadsheet with hundreds or even 1000s of products. You can organize the spreadsheet on your own or you can use software that is available specifically for this purpose. Imagine uploading your spreadsheet with thousands of products each month. This is definitely an avenue worth considering to generate free traffic for your website.It might take quite a bit of time to set it up at first but you could then just re upload the file each month for recurring free advertising. I have heard of one person on the forums who was in the auto industry. He had uploaded over 100,000 products to Google Base. Imagine if each product just received 10 visitors per month. This would be 1 million targetted free visitors. That is some serious free traffic. This would probably cost over $200,000 if you paid for these clicks through Google Adwords. The main problem would be setting up the products in the first place. You would need some software to help you organize this.
