The January sales are always a trial but their worth it if you can pick up just one great pair of jeans for next to nothing. There are a few methods that can also help if you want to get out alive.

Plan Ahead

Yes planning ahead is always a good idea. If you think about where you're going to be going you can find out when stores are open and what you can expect from their sales. Furthermore this method helps you to get in and out with minimal fuss. The last thing you want to be doing is ambling about aimlessly not knowing where to go to next.

Know What You Want and What you can Afford

Setting yourself up with a budget is equally as important as knowing where you're going. You should set your budget based on what you want to get. Work out a price you are willing to pay for whatever items you want and stick to it. That way you will ensure you get your money's worth and don't get roped in by the impulse buy.

Come a Few Days Late

It might sound like you're going to miss out with everyone getting there before you but there is some method to getting in a bit later. Furthermore, by coming up a few days later you find the town more relaxed and a lot of people will have started to bring items back. You might just find exactly what you're looking for.

As a very compelling alternative you could just miss out on the whole high street debacle and do it online.
